FAQ's

Here are a few questions that you may have about your wedding day and the planning leading up to it.  If there is anything else, then please just ask.

Is The Forge Barn heated?

Yes we have underfloor heating throughout, if a marquee is added this will also be heated.

Should we take out wedding insurance?

We would recommend that you take out wedding insurance as soon as you have booked the venue and paid your deposit.

Will we have exclusive use of the venue?

Yes when you book The Forge, you will also book the accommodation giving you complete exclusive use of the full site including indoor heated swimming pool.

Do you allow dogs?

We take 2 well behaved dogs in each cottage, however we do ask that they are not left unattended, or that they are in a crate.  We do have an excellent kennels in Abbotsway which is a couple of minutes down the road.  Andrea and her team also offer doggy day care.

Will we be able to meet to discuss the wedding?

Absolutely, we will arrange a meeting to discuss your plans and go through our wine and drinks packages, caterers, timings etc.

Am I able to bring family and suppliers to visit the venue?

Yes just give me a call or drop me an email and we will arrange a mutually convenient time.

Will there be someone available on the day if we have any questions?

Yes, you will have a co-ordinator who will meet you the day before when setting up, run the rehearsal if you are having one. Be on hand for the day of the wedding to ensure timings run to schedule.

Is there on site parking?

Yes we have ample parking for your wedding guests.

Is The Forge suitable for disabled/wheelchair users?

Absolutely, The Forge is level access with disabled toilets.  If ramps are required outside or in the cottages this can be arranged.

Can cars be left overnight?

Yes cars can be left at their owners risk, however must be collected by 10am the following day.

Can you recommend any Taxi firms?

Yes we have a few local firms that we can recommend, these will need to be pre-booked due to our locations.

Coaches

If you decide to have your guests dropped off by coach that is possible but please let us know so that we can speak with the company to arrange access.

How many people can The Forge seat?

We can accommodate upto 90 guests for your daytime reception.

What time can we have access the day before?

You can have access from 12.30 the day before the wedding, and until 11am the day following the wedding.  Unless you decide to extend you stay and have a BBQ or Pizza Shack experience.

Can we get married on site?

Yes we are licensed by North Yorkshire Council to hold weddings.

Can we get married in a church and just have the reception at The Forge?

Absolutely, you can hire The Forge for your celebration and have a church ceremony.  We do have St Mary’s Church in  Birdforth, whilst no longer able to conduct ceremonies you are able to have a blessing.  This beautiful Grade II listed church is a real hidden gem.

Can we have confetti?

Yes, we just ask that it is biodegradable, and no confetti cannons please.

How do we book the Registrar?

Once you have booked the venue we can talk you through how to book with North Yorkshire County Council.

Are we allowed candles?

Due to the age of The Forge we only allow electric candles.  These are provided in all of our lanterns.

Do you take cash or card?

For wedding and events we take both cash and card for the bar and the barn.

Can we have a fire pit?

Yes we are able to supply a fire pit on the patio area.

Can we have fireworks?

No I’m afraid not due to our animals who live onsite.

Do you have a finish time?

Yes last orders at the bar is 11.30pm and the music finishes at midnight.  We ask that any guests who are not staying in the cottages have left the premises by 00.15.

Are we able to play music during the ceremony?

Yes you an connect to our PA/sound system via Bluetooth.  We wil go through these details with you.

What size are the tables?

You have the option of 5’6” round tables or 6’ long x 3’ wide.

What time would you recommend to get married?

We think 2pm is a good time for the ceremony.  This gives you plenty of getting ready time in the morning, and time for guests who are travelling not to have to rush.  However the time is upto you.

Can we have a band or a DJ?

Yes you are able to have either, just get them to speak to us.

Do you have a PA system for speeches?

Yes we have a PA system which you can connect to via Bluetooth.

If we wanted an ourdoor activity or games is that possible?

Absolutely, we work with Focusing Events who offer a range of activities or for games why not try Yorkshire Games Hire.

Do you have Public Liability insurance?

Yes we do, we will also ask that all suppliers provided their certificates of public liability insurance and their electrical and gas safety certificates.

Is there accommodation on site?

Yes we have 4 beautifully converted barns all with hot tubs, sleeping up to 41 guests, which you will take as part of the package, this gives full use of all facilities, including the indoor heated swimming pool and The Pizza Shack.

Is other accommodation available locally?

Yes there is accommodation in either Thirsk or Easingwold, in addition to surrounding villages.

Do you have high chairs and baby changing facilities?

Yes we have high chairs for younger guests and baby changing facilities are in the disabled toilets.

How many toilets do you have?

We have 3 ladies toilets, 3 gents urinals and a Disabled toilet.

Can we have street food van in the evening?

Yes, just let us have the details or we can give you some names.

Do we need to clear up at the end of the function?

No, leave this to us.  We will gather together any cards, gifts and decorations for you to collect the following morning.

How do we make a booking?

To secure your wedding date we will send you a contract to sign and take a 25% deposit.

When are further payments due?

Your 25% deposit secures your date, 50% is payable six months before your wedding date and the final balance of 25% is payable three months before your wedding.

Is VAT included in the price?

Yes.

What is the cancellation policy?

This will be in your contract, please read it carefully before you sign and let us know if you have any questions.
